EVTradinPost has been placed on hold

Dear friends –

It has come to my attention that the primary use of the EVTradinPost’s systems have come to be for people to post scam listings or to try and defraud sellers. The platform I was using offers no tools to assist in managing that situation and even if it did – I have been clear – this is a side, passion project for me. While this is a painful decision, I must acknowledge that I have no time to spend worrying about what people are posting and I absolutely don’t want to be spending my personal funds to sponsor fraud and scams.   As such – I have shut the site down while I decide what to do next with it.

If the site was useful to you in the time it was up – I am glad.

Best – /Aaron Choate

2018 refresh of the Tradin’Post

I’ve moved the EVTradin’ Post to a new platform.   I’m really excited about the things it will allow you all to do.  It already deals with some of the most asked for features (mapping of vehicle listings and proximity searches).  It allows you to comment on the listings and ask questions both privately and in the comment stream.  It allows you to rate the sellers.  And, best, it should allow me to phase in new features allowing for people to offer services, share or trade tools or supplies and even take payments through the site as I learn how it all works.

If you haven’t had a chance to check it out, please take a look and let me know what you think.

EV Tradin’ Post Tips — Alerting to potential scammers

On occasion, scammers will attempt to trick the people who post ads on the EV Tradin’ Post into sending them money.  I have enabled captchas on the site to help reduce the amount of spam our users get, but some of these guys can be pretty persistent.

I will include Mike’s Chancey’s original examples below for posterity, but people have been reporting more recent examples on the feedback forums if you want to go there and see recent examples, discuss them or report one yourself.

Updated EVTradinpost website

I manage the EVTradin’post, a classifieds site for the electric car/vehicle community. The site has been around for a while and has desperately needed a refresh for some time. Well… it has been a while coming and I still have some features I want to develop around the core data. Nothing is ever “finished” these days, but…

EVTradin'post If you go to http://www-new.evtradinpost.com – you will see the updated version of the EVTradinpost. I’ve been working with existing ad owners to move their ads over to the new server, but if you want to create new accounts and ads, you should do it here. I am leaving the old site active for a bit so that people can get their ad copy if they need it and then I will be transferring the www hostname to this server. If you have been kind enough to link to the site homepage, thank you, and don’t need to update your link.
